This is a very pretty set of high quality 800 grade silver sugar tongs from the Late Victorian or Edwardian era, 1890-1910.
The beautifuly made and top quality sugar tongs have spoon ends and a very unusual 3 dimensional reticulated crown finial and barley twist sides. 800 silver denotes a European manufacture, but no maker's marks are given.
The unusual and elegant sugar tongs are 5 inches long.
800 silver is a bit less silver content than sterling's 925, but is often preferred continentally because of a higher durability as it is a stronger metal.
The sugar tongs are in very good +++ used vintage condition. A very attractive and unusual pair, making adding sugar to your tea a joy!
