This is a hand made artisan knitted tea cozy, teapot warmer or tea cosy made in a fancy popcorn stitch and fan stitch by a local artisan in the 1990s.
The medium tea cozy measures 5.5 inches high with a bottom adjustable width to 11 inches wide with a white satin picot edged ribbon. The tea cozy is quite stretchy.
There are 2 openings for the spout and handle of the teapot and I have photographed it on a 4-6 cup Brown Betty teapot. There is an opening at the top for the teapot finial or lid knob as well.
The tea cozy or tea cosy is in excellent used vintage condition with no stains, spots or pulls.
It was suggested that tea cozies are also great at camouflaging less than perfect teapots that are too special to discard. They definitely keep the tea in the pot warmer longer.
